Protocol

A protocol is an argument of set of rules that directs the data communication system for sending & receving the information

Source

The device that generates the information to be sent is called source.It can be computer,work station telephone,video camera.etc

Transmitter

Transmitter is used to transform & encode the information in such a way as to produce the electromagnetic signals that can be transmitted accross the transmission medium

The medium is the physical transmission path connecting the source and destination,by which the message travels from source to destination & vice-versa.it can be twisted pair cable,co-axial cable ,fiber-optic cable.etc

Receiver

The receiver accepts the signals from the transmission system and converts it into a form that can be handled by destination

Destination

It is a device that accepts the information from the receier.It can be a computer,telephone.etc
