Routers

• Routers are physical devices that join the multiple network together


• router operate at the physical,data link & network layer in OSI model


• More technically, a router  is a networking device whose software and hardware are usually designed for routing and forwarding inforamtion

  • Each router will have a routing table built into it.There are two types of routing
    
    
    
    • NON-Adapting routing

Non-adaptive routing

• In this once a pathway to the destination is selected the router sends all the packets to the destination along the selected route

• In this routing the router selects a new route for every packet based on current condition and toopology of the network
